7 week class
Whether you are looking to up your speaking skills with some laughs or discovering your own funny stories, this class is designed with you in mind. Sharing our world and perspective with others is crucial for all of us. We humans are social creatures and we feed and grow from hearing each other's stories. And we connect to people through laughter. Telling a funny story is engaging and persuasive. And we all love to hear and tell a good story.
This workshop-style class will have students participating in activities and exercises that will help get your story out and make it not just entertaining and funny, but genuinely meaningful in the process. Public speaking isn't just about talking to a room of a thousand; it's being confident that you will be able to communicate with those around you. The class will conclude with recital-style performance, with friends and family.

*Free shows for student and a guest

Shawna has been doing standup comedy for over 8 years now (not that 2020 counts) and storytelling since she started drinking. She has gotten to work with some very cool people, opening for Dave Attell, Jeff Ross, and Michelle Wolf to name a few. She likes to describe her stage presence as calm confidence mixed with finger guns. “I think of the audience at shows as my close friends and divulge embarrassing moments, private thoughts and personal victories.”
Shawna teaches Communication at Tulsa Community College, because she loves a captive audience. When she is not performing or teaching, she is obsessed with her dog to a degree that’s been called “terrifying” and “disturbing” by others who haven’t met him.
